I don't think we even need to send a message. The bird coming back should be confirmation enough. Also that way there is no danger of interception.
Are you sure we are not supposed to just pass on the message as written? What if this message is not for us and we are just an odd means of transport.

We were looking at the secret message. The periods reminded us of a telegram. So I translated the contents to morse but yet another dead end. I am curious if someone can see something I didn't.

Here is something we may be able to do with the letter. When you write you usually indent the paper with your writing. Are any of these ridges left in the document in the black areas? Or are they removed by the blackening.
I still like panda's idea of sending the message on with a pigeon. If it is intended for the pigeons owners they should see it. The only reason to bring Maddison in on it at this point is because she has the pigeons. I wonder if it should be encoded…
The 1 you see maybe incorrect. Keep in mind this document, while in the envelope, was folded. Notice the black smudge between NEED it is mirrored above confim (since it was folded) and mirrored again on the I in spine. Since the ink was most likely…
Can you place a copy of this picture with your first post so that it appears on every page with the letter.
Here is an odd little tid bit for you. One of the bones in your spine is named after a bird. The Coccyx or tail bone is named after a Cuckoo Bird. Not sure if it helps.
